Di bawah ini cuplikan laporan uji coba peringkat transceiver pada LOW bands yang dibuat oleh Earl, K6SE, pada maillist Top Band Reflector, 19 Juni 2003. Tentu saja datanya sudah tergolong usang, karena kini sudah bermunculan merek-merek dan tipe-tipe baru. Pemuatan ini tidak saya maksudkan untuk memancing perdebatan pro dan kontra, namun hanya untuk melengkapi posting serial terjemahan saya tentang LOW bands.
Pada 23 Nopember 2004, dalam posting uji cobanya yang lebih belakangan, Earl menempatkan Icom IC-756 Pro II di peringkat teratas.
Earl adalah seorang insinyur komunikasi pada NASA dan proyek pesawat siluman Stealth. Dia adalah Top Bander yang sudah confirmed lebih dari 200 negara DXCC.

In the $1000 price class, I recommend the ElecraftK2 or the IC-746Pro. Stay away from the Icom IC-746 non-pro and the IC-756 non-pro. It was a quantum leap when Icom added the name "Pro" to these radios when they simultaneously added DSP to them!
